Why Choose Green Lotus Tattoo in Brunswick?

When searching for the best tattoo studio in Melbourne, it's important to find an artist whose style matches the tattoo you have in mind.

Green Lotus brings together a global team of tattoo artists who specialise across multiple styles. The studio's artist roster includes tattooers working in areas such as blackwork, traditional, oriental, realism, fine line, lettering, ornamental and pattern work, neo-traditional and colour tattooing.

This variety means you can explore different artistic approaches before choosing the right artist for your project.

Custom Tattoos Designed Around Your Ideas

A custom tattoo should feel personal.

Rather than simply selecting an image from the internet you can work with an artist to develop an idea that suits your preferred style, placement and overall vision.

Your concept might start with a simple idea — a meaningful symbol, portrait, animal, traditional design, floral piece or completely original artwork. Your tattoo artist can then help transform that starting point into a tattoo designed specifically for you.

At Green Lotus Tattoo, the focus on custom work allows clients to explore their ideas while benefiting from the individual experience and artistic style of their chosen tattooer.

Finding the Right Tattoo Artist in Melbourne

Choosing a tattoo artist shouldn't be based solely on location. Every artist has their own visual language, techniques and preferred styles.

For example, Green Lotus artist Mike Van is known for large-scale blackwork and detailed ornamental work, while owner and senior artist Tashi GLT is recognised for dynamic stylised oriental pieces. Dan Castle creates incredible Western and European Traditional works, Damien Morris applies amazing Neo Traditional Blackwork, Sav Ray creates sublime fine line pieces and Matty Magee applies beautiful Traditional and Tribal tattoos.

Looking through an artist's portfolio before booking is one of the most important steps in planning your tattoo.

Think about the style you want, then find an artist whose existing work demonstrates the qualities you're looking for.

Your First Tattoo? Start With the Right Artist

Getting your first tattoo can feel exciting — and a little overwhelming.

You may already have a design in mind, or you may only know that you want something meaningful. Either way, choosing an experienced tattoo artist and communicating your ideas clearly can make the process much easier.

Before your appointment, consider:

1. Think about the style

Look at different tattoo styles and identify what appeals to you. Traditional, blackwork, realism, fine line and oriental tattoos can create very different visual results.

2. Consider the placement

Think about where you want your tattoo and how the design will work with the shape and movement of that part of your body.

3. Find an artist whose portfolio matches your idea

Don't choose an artist simply because you like one tattoo they've created. Look for consistency across their portfolio and make sure their overall style suits your project.

4. Bring useful references

Reference images can help communicate your ideas, but your tattoo artist can adapt the concept to create something appropriate for your body and chosen style.

5. Be open to professional advice

Your artist understands tattoo design, placement, scale and how artwork translates onto skin. Their recommendations can help turn an initial concept into a stronger tattoo.

More Than Just a Tattoo Appointment

For many people, getting tattooed is about creating something they can carry with them for life.

That might mean commemorating someone important, celebrating an experience, expressing your personality or simply appreciating tattoo art.

Green Lotus Tattoo has been part of Melbourne's tattoo scene since 2007 and continues to work with resident and visiting artists from Australia and overseas. The studio also has a history of hosting guest artists and participating in tattoo conventions and events.  Green Lotus Tattoo+1
